Well…it’s summer.
And if you wear night compression, you know it can be a special slice of Hell.
I completely understand why some people just won’t wear it. No judgment here.
But I do.
Because…DAMN, it works for me!
I love waking up and seeing my hand and arm actually look normal-ish again. Morning is when my arm looks its absolute best, and for me, the sweaty nights are worth it.
I have two different nighttime setups, and I like them both for different reasons.
Option 1: Comfiwave
Comfiwave is my cooler option.
Pros:
- Much less hot
- Comfortable
- It works well
Cons:
- It doesn’t reduce my swelling quite as much as my other setup.
You can check out their products here:

If you’re in the United States, there’s some good news. Thanks to the Lymphedema Treatment Act, both daytime and nighttime compression garments should be covered by insurance. Ask your Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) or physical therapist about getting measured and having the garments billed through your insurance. It has made these garments much more accessible for many people.
Option 2: Pure Medical
My other nighttime setup is from Pure Medical. Mine is custom-made and consists of a sleeve and a separate puffy glove.
Pros:
- It works incredibly well.
- I wake up with my arm and hand looking almost normal.
Cons:
- It’s HOT.
This is the setup I’m wearing most nights right now.
I sleep with the window open (I live at higher elevation so nights are cool), and keep a fan blowing directly on me all night.
So yes…it’s hot.
But when I wake up and see my hand and arm looking the smallest they’ve been all day, it’s absolutely worth it.

Don’t Let the Price Stop You
Compression garments are incredibly expensive, and for a long time, many people simply couldn’t afford them.
If cost is the only thing keeping you from getting a nighttime garment, talk with your physical therapist or Certified Lymphedema Therapist. Insurance coverage has changed, and you may qualify even if you were denied in the past.
It’s definitely worth asking.
Now I’m curious…
What nighttime compression do you wear? Is there another brand you’ve had great success with? I’d love to hear what’s worked for you.
